The Menghai Tea Factory (Menghai Tea Industry Co., Ltd) is located at Xishuangbanna, in South Yunnan alongside the Tibetan Plateau is the birthplace of tea and Pi’er is the genetic mother of all tea.
The story of the Menghai Tea Factory begins in 1938 with the blessing of the China Tea Company. Mr Fan He Jun, a tea expert and scientist educated in Paris, took a team of over 90 tea specialists down the Ancient Tea Horse Road from Kunming to Menghai town set up the factory.
Mr fan realized the importance of using the most up-to-date methods, knowledge and technology and finding the perfect balance with the age-old methods used by the indigenous Pu’ er growers of Menghai.
Working closely with the local tribal leaders, Mr Fan helped the villagers produce pressed Pu’ er tea cake, And in 1940 the first batch of pressed Pu’ er travelled by ship to India, and finally onto Tibet. The Menghai Tea Factory experiment was a success.
Over 70 years the Menghai Tea Factory has become China’s most respected Pu’er produce. Now owns 380 acres of land for Pu’er tea Processing Factory. We have twenty thousand acres of green ecological tea plantation, Bada Mountain and Bulan Mountain, raw material certified origin guarantee for our produce.
As well as inventing the modern pile-fermentation aging method, so that we can produce Pu’er in months rather than years, we also make the world’s most renowned Pu’er blends.
Taetea Pu’er has been China’s favorite for more than seven decades. Today Pu’er research and development is our biggest priority so we plan to be the name you can trust for generations to come.
