Yang Baojian, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the People’s Congress of Yunnan Province, led his delegation to visit the Philippines and promote the Fifth China-South Asia Expo
From May 17 to 22, 2018, a delegation led by Mr. Yang Baojian, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the People’s Congress of Yunnan Province, visited the Philippines. Yunnan Commercial Representative Office provided service and assistance to the delegation throughout the visit. Other 5 members of the delegation are: Mr. Yu Shukun, Executive Deputy Director of Yunnan International Expositions Bureau, Ms. Wang Yani, Director of the Exhibition Department of Yunnan International Expositions Bureau, Mr. Li Hongbin, Deputy Director of Economic, Scientific& Technological Division of Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Yunnan Province, Mr. Shan Hongkun, Associate Consultant General Division of General Office of the Standing Committee of the People’s Congress of Yunnan Province, and Ms. Gu Rui, Interpreter of Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Yunnan Province.

During the visit, the delegation successively held conferences with and promoted the Fifth China-South Asia Expo to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) of the Republic of the Philippines, Chinese Embassy in the Philippines, Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), Philippine Silk Road International Chamber of Commerce, Filipino-Chinese Youth Business Association, Inc., Liwayway Group, Profood International Corp. and other relevant departments. During the conference with DTI, Yang Baojian presented an invitation letter issued by Mr. Ruan Chengfa, the Governor of Yunnan Province, to Ms. Nora K. Terrado, Undersecretary of Trade and Investments Promotion Group. He also introduced in detail the economic and social development of Yunnan Province and the relevant information of the Fifth China-South Asia Expo. At the same time, the two sides exchanged opinions on how to deepen their cooperation. The delegation was received by Mr. Tan Qingsheng, Deputy Chief of Mission and Minister Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy who pointed out that Yunnan has a prominent geographical advantage and a solid foundation in international business and economics, so there is strong economic complementarity between Yunnan Province and the Philippines. He promised that the Embassy would fully support the economic and trade cooperation between Yunnan Province and the Philippines.
