Foreign ambassadors to China visited Kunming

A fifty-people delegation, which was composed of foreign ambassadors, envoys, consul generals to China and their families from 19 countries, arrived in Kunming on the 15th of May. In the next two days, they had an overall investigation into Kunming ’s development and achievement in nature, culture and economic society. It is said that the visit is beneficial to Kunming in broadening foreign cooperation and providing favorable develop opportunity for key industries.
The delegation visited Yunnan Baiyao Group Co., Ltd., Colorful Yunnan · Ancient Dian Cultural City project, Dounan International Flower Market & Distribution Center in Chenggong District and Stone Forest Scenic spot. The journey fully presented the plan and achievement that Kunming had made in developing ‘Big Health’ industry, including health-care, pharmacy, recreation, fitness, tourism and food in specific.
Be commissioned to Cheng Lianyuan (member of Standing Committee of Yunnan Provincial Committee, party secretary of Kunming Municipal Party), Wang Xiliang (deputy secretary of Kunming Municipal Party, mayor of Kunming) welcomed all the delegates for the visit.
Wang introduced, Kunming is a city with a pleasant climate and rich health resources; Kunming is a city with profound history, and is ranked among the first batch of National Historical and Cultural Cities; Kunming is an open and inclusive city, with 22 international sister cities and 17 international friendly cities around the world; Kunming is a promising city, which now actively serves and joins ‘the Belt And Road Initiative’ construction, as well as accelerates the process of building itself into the regional international center city.
Wang said, a developing Kunming needs integration with the world and needs help and support from all the foreign diplomats in China. He hoped the visit may help foreign delegates know more about Kunming. Meanwhile, he hoped Kunming can take this opportunity to build up a relationship and deepen cooperation with foreign cities. Wang promised, Kunming will provide a better environment and comprehensive protection for both domestic and overseas guests, to create a bright future with joint hands.
During the visit, Kunming also held a promotion activity. The promotion mainly introduced key industries, unique advantages and development prospect of Kunming to the delegation. The ‘Big Health’ industry, which was introduced as a major content, attracted lots of attention.
Patricia Rodrigue Holkemeyer, Ambassador of Costa Rica to China, said that Kunming is a beautiful city with fresh air, clean water, and pleasant climate. She suggested, since Kunming shares lots of similarities with Costa Rica, two sides may establish cooperation in various aspects, such as building up friendly city relationship.
Munehisa Uematsu and Tomokazu Ueta, officials of Embassy of Japan to China, also spoke highly on Kunming’s scenery and climate. They said Japan and Kunming may carry out cooperation in the field of medical industry, as well as promote exchanges between enterprises and universities of two sides.
