In order to promote economic and trade cooperation between Yunnan Province and the Philippines, and strengthen commercial ties between the two places, the Yunnan Provincial Government and Department of Commerce set up a representative office of Yunnan Province in Manila, Philippines in November 2015. As a permanent institution of Yunnan’s opening-up and foreign trade services, the representative office will actively play a comprehensive role of “window, coordination, service and rights protection”, and implement the “double-track approach” of “going out” and “introducing”. Main responsibilities: strengthen the links with the Government departments, chambers of commerce and industry associations to promote economic and trade relations between the two places, to dredge and expand trade and economic cooperation channels between the two places, and promote the development of healthy and friendly economic and trade cooperation between the two places.
At present, Yunnan “going out” enterprises are mainly concentrating on clean energy investment and development (water, solar, garbage power, wind power), cement and building materials investment, real estate development, agricultural investment and technology promotion (coffee, vegetables, fruit, mango), tourism investment and development, mineral development (copper, gold, zinc and other non-ferrous metals), the above industry enterprises have the intention to enter and invest in the Philippines.
